Local delivery and nationwide alternatives

Logs for sale near you, delivered

Start with local firewood suppliers, where delivery distances and minimum orders may be lower. If nearby stock is limited, compare kiln-dried logs supplied in boxes, bulk bags or crates for delivery across the UK.

Our directory currently includes 239 suppliers tagged for delivery and 221 listing kiln-dried firewood. Always confirm current coverage and stock directly.

Compare the quantity before the price

A “bulk bag”, “tonne bag” and crate can hold very different amounts. Wood can also be described by weight, loose-filled volume or stacked volume. Those figures are not interchangeable, so ask for the actual measurement used.

Delivery formatUsually suitsWhat to verify
Nets or small bagsOccasional fires and testing a supplierNet weight, number of logs and collection versus delivery cost
Cardboard boxesClean storage and nationwide parcel deliveryDelivered weight, log length and number of boxes
Bulk or builder’s bagsRegular stove use with accessible storageActual weight or loose-filled volume; bag names are not standard measures
Crates or palletsSeasonal stock-ups and frequent burningStacked volume, kerbside restrictions and pallet-truck access
Loose tipped loadsLocal buyers with a large, prepared log storeLoose volume, vehicle access and exactly where the load will be tipped

Weight changes with moisture

A heavier load is not necessarily better value if it contains wetter wood. Compare the supplier’s moisture information alongside weight, species and log dimensions.

Plan the unloading point

Tipped loads, crane bags and pallet deliveries need different access. Tell the supplier about narrow entrances, gravel, slopes, steps and overhead obstructions.

Prepare dry storage

Keep logs raised off the ground, sheltered from direct rain and ventilated. A large order is poor value if it has to sit wrapped or exposed after delivery.

Local tipped or bagged delivery

Local suppliers may offer nets, builders’ bags or loose loads. Ask where the logs will be unloaded and whether stacking is available; a tipped load and a neatly stacked cubic metre are not directly comparable quantities.

Nationwide pallet or parcel delivery

Boxes are easier to carry and suit occasional use. Bulk bags and crates usually suit regular burners with dry storage and suitable vehicle access. Check the delivered quantity before comparing headline prices.

Four checks before arranging delivery

  • Whether the quoted price includes delivery to your postcode
  • The actual weight or stacked volume, rather than the bag name alone
  • Whether a pallet truck needs level, hard access at the kerb
  • Log length and diameter for your stove, fireplace or oven

Log delivery questions

What is usually the cheapest way to buy logs?

Larger local loads can reduce packaging and transport cost per unit, but only when the quantities are genuinely comparable. Compare delivered weight or volume, moisture information and usable log size—not the bag name or headline price alone.

How much does a delivery of logs cost?

There is no reliable UK-wide figure. The final price depends on quantity, species, moisture, distance, delivery method and access. Ask whether delivery and VAT are included, and whether your postcode attracts a surcharge.

Should I buy locally or order logs online?

Try local suppliers first when you want a tipped load, flexible quantity or repeat deliveries. Nationwide boxes and pallets are useful when local stock is limited or you want a clearly specified packaged product.

Can a pallet be delivered onto gravel or a sloping drive?

Often not. Standard pallet deliveries commonly require a firm, level surface and may be kerbside only. Confirm access with the seller before ordering; requirements vary by carrier.
